Show Notes
Tonight is about pursuing life after work – and answering the question about what we consider to be work or not – when we’re doing the things that bring us joy.
In this episode, I speak with David Muise, a musician and author from Nova Scotia, who shares insights about the vibrant music scene in his community, his journey through retirement, and the significance of social connections and community engagement in the process of starting something new. We’ll also discuss the inspiration behind his children’s book as we talk about the mining life in New Waterford, Nova Scotia.
Join me and special guest, David Muise – on this 100th episode!
Until next time, have a wonderful night!
About This Week’s Guest:
David Muise is a singer-songwriter originally from New Waterford, Cape Breton. In his younger formidable years, he followed his father, Yogi, as he performed with the Men of the Deeps. These experiences and other musical influences, such as those of Harry Chapin, John Prine, and James Taylor, solidified David’s passion for writing and performing storytelling songs.
His debut album, “The Journey,” was released in 2007. Since then, David has spent his time playing at various charity events, Jamborees, and songwriters’ circles, including a set on the Stan Fest stage. His most recent works include the release of a full-length CD with his musical partner Louise Brooking titled “Catch the Wind.”
David is also the author of a children’s book called Archie the Pit Rat Hero, illustrated by Louise Brooking and published by Breton Books in 2007. Funded by the Writers in Schools Program through the Writers Federation of Nova Scotia, this author/illustrator duo travel the province, sharing their story with students across the province in hopes of inspiring imaginations of future writers and illustrators.
Other musical interests include performing in Pipe and Drum bands. David is a former member of the Pipes and Drums of Clan Farquharson and was a member of the Colchester Legion Pipes and Drums during their tour in Holland for the 65th Anniversary of the Liberation of that country from WWII.
David lives in Grand Lake with his wife Marian, daughter Winter, and three border collies Doc, Dublin and Kayla.
